Ruth O. Hanners, 82, of Benton Harbor, passed away at her home on Friday, July 7, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 12:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Connie Cavender officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Ruth was born on September 7, 1934, to Glenn & Marie (Morris) Reese in Benton Harbor. She attended Benton Harbor High School. Ruth married Earnest Dale Hanners on April 9, 1952. She worked for Michigan Bell as a telephone operator as well for Medical Records at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed going to garage sales, traveling with her siblings and going to the casino. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Ruth is survived by her children, Frank (Susan) Hanners, Mike Hanners, Christine Hanners, Mary Head and Violet (Brian Prescott) Hanners; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her siblings, Dorothy Long and John Reese. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earnest; son Steven Hanners; great-grandson Kamden Head; and siblings, Helen Snyder, Joe Moore, Richard Reese, Jim Reese, Bill Reese and Betty Meadows.
